Professional sports teams, massive luxury-car collections, 216-foot yachts, multi-million-dollar mansions. Corporate landlords, including billionaires Stephen Schwarzman (pictured above) and Sam Zell, are living extravagant lifestyles subsidized by tenants who spend huge chunks of their paychecks on wildly inflated rents. …

Housing Is A Human Right urges Gov. Gavin Newsom to veto SB 9 and SB 10. The state bills push harmful trickle-down policies that fuel higher rents and gentrification, and have no requirements for affordable and homeless housing. …

YIMBYs at a protest in San Francisco

Maybe you’ve read an article about YIMBYs or heard a friend mention the term. Or maybe you saw something on Twitter, but still don’t understand what YIMBYs are. No problem. Here’s the lowdown.

To start off, Housing Is A Human Right has been battling YIMBYs for years, so you’ve come…

For years, AIDS Healthcare Foundation and…

Housing Is A Human Right strongly opposes California State Senate bills 9 (SB 9) and 10 (SB 10). These wrong-headed policies will be a boon for developers, but ignore the long-term, negative impacts on working-class communities, especially those of color. They must be stopped.

For years now, the California State…

Billionaires Sam Zell (left) and Stephen Schwarzman

After years of sky-rocketing rents in California, one thing has disturbingly remained the same: the rent is still too damn high. Recent data shows that the Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Oakland metro areas all have rents that continue to take massive chunks out of people’s paychecks.

Through the update of the Hollywood Community Plan, Los Angeles politicians have the opportunity to require the construction of more affordable housing and to protect residents against gentrification. Instead, city officials are pushing a flawed Hollywood Community Plan that’s a giveaway to developers. It must be stopped.

The Hollywood Community…
